Optical Brighteners & Quenchers

OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS (OBA),
Special 100% active product:
KalBrite C Powder , TetraSulphonated OBA

Optical Brighteners, also known as OBA or Fluorescent Brighteners, are used widely in paper and paper coatings to increase the brightness (whiteness) of these products. These same compounds are widely used in textiles, laundry detergents, and other products which value clean bright appearance. Optical brighteners work by absorbing light from the ultra violet end of the spectrum (invisible) and in turn giving off light in the visible range, usually toward the blue white range. This "shift" in the frequency of light energy results in a whiter - brighter appearance to the product treated.

Unlike most products in use in the paper industry, KalBrite C is offered in a 100% active powder form. No need to pay for expensive "inert" ingredients" or for expensive shipment of the 70% to 80% water which most of the competitive products consist of. This powerful product can provide significant savings to the user as well as flexibility in application which has been complicated by the extra water and other ingredients which come with the liquid products.

OPTICAL BRIGHTENER QUENCHERS
Fluorescent Quenchers, OBA Quenchers

Optical Brightener Quenching Agent:
GLOQUENCH PAS - GLOQUENCH DS

Optical Brightening agents (OBA) are very widely used in a large range of paper products. There are however some products within the industry which do not allow any fluorescence or OBA content at all. The production of these sorts of grades can be complicated by the use of mill broke, waste paper, or other fiber sources which may carry some amounts of OBA. In these cases it is necessary to extinguish or "quench" the fluorescence which may be present in trace or moderate amounts.

GLOQUENCH PAS is one of the most powerful OBA quenching agents available. This product has proven to be 25% to 40% more effective than most other quenching agents available in the market today. Small additions of GloQuench to the pulper or machine chest can provide very high levels of quenching to OBA containing papers. In most cases the fluorescence of residual OBAs can be completely extinguished.

GloQuench is available in two strengths. GloQuench PAS (full strength) and GloQuench DS which is somewhat reduced in concentration.
