The Model BT-10 Burst Tester ( Tappi T-403 method) is an automatic, digital, bursting tester for use on paper, paperboard, and corrugated board. Each standard test method can be selected from the instrument memory. With this method the paper or paperboard is clamped between two standard ring clamping surfaces and hydraulic force is exerted against the bottom of the sample until it fails. The maximum pressure exerted at failure is the test result.

The desired test method is selected and the sample is placed into the test position and the start button is depressed, the rest is automatic! The clear safety guard is lowered into place and the pneumatic clamp holds the sample. The hydraulic testing system then actuates and proceeds until the sample bursts. The burst value is recorded on the digital display and in memory for subsequent statistical calculations. Clamp and Guard are then retracted and the instrument is ready for the next test.
